Laptop pricepoints have steadily decreased over the past few years, and are poised to replace desktops altogether. As we are beginning to use our laptops as stationary desktop substitutes, laptop batteries can live longer since they are connected to the power source more often. Following some simple steps, lifespan of the average laptop battery can be increased favorably:
1. Let your battery discharge to almost 50% at least once a month.
2. If you rarely disconnect your power source, it’s a good idea to remove the battery and place it in a cool, dust free environment.
3. Try not to discharge the battery to full depletion.
4. If your laptop has a heating problem, and gets hot easily, buy a laptop cooler. Excessive heat can reduce battery life and also damage other parts of the laptop. Some laptops have fans venting air under the case, make sure you don’t place your laptop on any paper or the like that can cling to the vent and block it.
